Absolutely, Yes! Tin may not be an obvious choice, but with it's soft, malleable properties and bright silver colour when polished, it's a great choice for jewellery!

It's most similar in appearance to Silver, and can be cared for in much the same way. See our care instructions below

No, Tin doesn't rust. It is also slow to tarnish due to it's naturally protective film of Stannic Oxide, created following a reaction with the oxygen in the air.

Fun Fact: tin cans are actually made of steel or aluminium, and previously coated with a layer of tin, which stopped the contents from corroding the can. However, many cans are now coated with a special layer of plastic.

Yes, tin is considered to be hypoallergic. Tin is non-toxic and as it doesn't contain nickel or copper, it is considered a metal that is very unlikely to cause allergic reactions, which makes it a good choice for sensitive skin.

Did you know: The term hypoallergenic is actually undefined and simply refers to something that is less likely to cause an allergic reaction.

With regards to jewellery allergens, the common culprits are Colbalt and Nickel, which leads to skin irritation, itching and rashes, neither of which you'll find in our items!

100% Yes! The traditional 10th Anniversary Gift is Tin, making our handcrafted Tin items perfect for a 10 Year Anniversary Gift.

We even have a dedicated 10th Anniversary Gift Collection especially for the Tin Anniversary.

Pewter is a tin based alloy, containing approximately 92-95% tin, with the addition of copper and antimony. These two extra metals help to harden the tin, which by itself is a relatively soft metal, making it more robust and harder wearing.

We cast our Christmas decorations using this tin alloy, to ensure they are strong and durable enough to survive Christmas after Christmas, for many years to come

Although tin tarnishes slowly, you will find that it starts to lose it's sparkling shine over time, much the same as Silver.

You can maintain your tin jewellery by simply washing in warm soapy water with a soft cloth and using a blue silver cloth to buff and restore the shine.

We are based online, however we do exhibit at local Cornish markets from time to time, mostly around Christmas time. Keep an eye on our Social Media accounts where will post details of upcoming events.
